The three biggest ACC football questions of the week. Here we go for Week 10.
SMU vs Pittsburgh how big is it?
How often do we get a top 20 ACC game in November that doesn’t have Clemson or Florida State? Not often but here we are with SMU and Pittsburgh. It’s a massive game for two teams a combined 14-1. The winner becomes a bonafide playoff contender and joins Clemson and Miami as one of three favorites to reach the ACC Title game. Pittsburgh is coming off their most complete game of the season against Syracuse while SMU had a 6 turnover game and still beat Duke. This should be a lot of fun.
Can Louisville upset Clemson?
I think this is a very intriguing game for Clemson. Louisville is probably touchdown better than anyone Clemson has faced since their game against Georgia. It’s the first game the Tigers have played against in the upper half of the ACC the entire season. Can Louisville upset Clemson in a night game in Death Valley? It’s hard to say we just don’t have a frame of reference for Clemson given their schedule, but I will say the Cards are the best team Clemson has played in a couple of months. It could be closer than expected, but I don’t see the Cards leaving with a win.
Is Virginia Tech about to win their 4th game in a row?
Rather than allowing a controversial loss to Miami to sink Virginia Tech’s season, Brent Pry and the Hokies have used it as a rallying point and now have won 3 games in a row, all by double digits. Now the Hokies head to Syracuse to face an Orange team that face-planted at Pittsburgh. I like the way the Hokies are playing. They are sometimes winning with defense, and sometimes their offense carries the load. They are improving as the season progresses and Syracuse will be a good test to see how far they’ve come. Even at the dome in Syracuse, I like Virginia Tech’s chances.
