ACC Team of the Week : Pittsburgh – for a 41-13 win over Syracuse
17. Florida State (1-7)
Last Week: 17
This season has been such a nightmare for Mike Norvell and FSU, that you have to wonder about Norvell’s job security. This year is bordering on humiliating. UNC is next.
16. Stanford (2-6)
Last Week: 15
Stanford is just glad Florida State is worse. They face improving NC State this week.
15. Virginia (4-4)
Last Week: 10
Virginia got blown out by UNC this past week, and that’s a really bad sign going forward. They have the BYE week to think about it.
14. Boston College (4-4)
Last Week: 11
Boston College has lost its third game in a row. BYE week comes at a great time to try to right the ship for the stretch run.
13. North Carolina (4-4)
Last Week: 16
We’ve been tough on UNC the last several weeks, but they played one of their most inspired games beating Virginia 41-14. Florida State provides UNC a tremendous opportunity for back-to-back wins.
12. California (4-4)
Last Week: 14
If Cal just played OOC games, they’d be unbeatable. They crushed Oregon State 44-7 to move to 4-0 OOC. They can still reach a bowl, and the BYE week comes at a good time.
11. Wake Forest (4-4)
Last Week: 13
Wake Forest has worked themselves to .500 after beating Stanford. Now they get a week off.
10. Georgia Tech (5-4)
Last Week : 9
Georgia Tech is one of the most beat-up teams in the ACC, and it shows especially on offense where that side of the ball has gone south. Hopefully, for their sake, the BYE week gets them healthy, or their season is cooked.
9. NC State (4-4)
Last Week: 12
With Stanford next, I kind of like NC State’s position. I think they can make a little noise during the last part of this season.
8. Duke (6-2)
Last Week: 7
Duke forced 6 turnovers against SMU and still lost. That’s a brutal way to walk into 8-0 Miami.
7. Syracuse (5-2)
Last week: 5
What happened to Kyle McCord against Pitt with Pick 6 after Pick 6. That gets even close to happening again, and Virginia Tech is beating them too.
6. Virginia Tech (5-3)
Last Week: 8
The Hokies had a fairly comfortable 21-6 win against Georgia Tech without near their best game. Their game with Syracuse could be for bowl pecking order.
5. Louisville (5-3)
Last Week: 6
Louisville is good enough to throw a scare into Clemson. Let’s see if they can do it.
4. SMU (7-1)
Last Week: 4
How did SMU survive a game at Duke with all those turnovers? They did and it sets up a monster top 20 matchup with Pittsburgh.
3. Pitt (7-0)
Last week: 3
So who becomes the biggest threat to crashing the Clemson Miami ACC party? We’ll find out when Pitt takes on SMU this weekend. Pitt looked great against Syracuse.
2. Clemson (6-1)
Last Week: 2
Clemson has been cruising against the easier part of their schedule. Louisville is a good test for the Tigers.
1. Miami (8-0)
Last Week: 1
Miami’s defense looked the part against FSU. Ok who’s defense doesn’t against the Noles, but I think Miami’s gained some confidence in that unit this past week. I think it will continue against Duke.
