Predicting the 2nd Half for the ACC Teams (9-17)

The college football schedule season has just passed the halfway point. Those pre-season predictions are out the window, so how does the remaining schedule look for the ACC teams?

Let’s start with teams currently 10-17 in the ACC Standings.

Louisville (4-3, 2-2)

Louisville has 3 single-digit losses to teams in the top 25, Notre Dame, SMU, and Miami. I believe they are a team that is better than their record.

Their finishing schedule is at Boston College, at Clemson, at Stanford, Pittsburgh, and at Kentucky.

I don’t think Louisville wins at Clemson, but this feels like the Cards are about to go on a little run

Predicted Finished (8-4, 5-3)

Virginia (4-3, 2-2)

Virginia may have the toughest finish in the ACC, and that includes Georgia Tech who we’ll see later.

Check out this finish North Carolina, at Pitt, at Notre Dame, SMU, at Virginia Tech. Ouch…

Virginia is better, but they aren’t equipped to handle this type of schedule. UNC might be their last win.

Predicted Finished (5-7, 3-5)

Boston College (4-3, 1-2)

Boston College has lost its last two games by double digits, and things could go either way for them. It’s not an easy finish, but 4 out of the 5 games are at home.

Their schedule ends with Louisville, Syracuse, at SMU, UNC, and Pitt. I think they squeeze out a couple of more wins getting one of Louisville, Syracuse, and Pitt and beating UNC.

Predicted Finish (6-6, 3-5)

Wake Forest (3-4, 1-2)

Wake Forest needs to win 3 of their last 5 to make a bowl, and it’s going to be close.

Their finish is at Stanford,  Cal, at North Carolina, at Miami, Duke. The Deacs aren’t likely to beat the Canes. Can they win 3 out of 4 from the other games? I don’t think so.

Predicted Finish (5-7, 3-5)

NC State (4-4, 1-3)

NC State may have saved their season with a comeback win at Cal. The freshman QB CJ Bailey might be a start in the making.

Their last 4 are Stanford, Duke, at Georgia Tech, and at UNC. I like that. It is not a daunting end to the season, and NC State wins 3 of 4 to finish in fine fashion.

Predicted Finish (7-5, 4-4)

Stanford (2-5, 1-3)

After beating Syracuse, things have gone south for the Cards.

Wake Forest, at NC State, Louisville, at Cal, and San Jose St are how things will end for Stanford.

There are a couple of wins in there, I think but that is all.

Predicted Finish (4-8, 2-6)

Florida State (1-6, 1-5)

The Noles have to win out to make a bowl. Yep not happening. Two top 12 teams remain and a surging Florida team. This season has been embarrassing for FSU, and it won’t finish much better.

FSU has games at Miami, UNC, at Notre Dame, Charleston Southern, and Florida – Well at least Charleston Southern is in there, but maybe there is an upset over UNC or Florida.

Predicted Finish (3-9, 2-6)

North Carolina (3-4, 0-3)

UNC has lost 4 games in a row, and the defense is a joke. Can they salvage the season? Well the schedule setups up decently, but won’t matter.

There are games at Virginia, at FSU, Wake Forest, @Boston College, then NC State.

Predicted Finish (5-7, 2-6)

California (3-4, 0-4)

Cal has been one snake-bit team, losing all four of its games by 5 points or less. Things have to break their way eventually right?  Luck will finally turn for them as they beat Oregon State, Wake Forest, and Stanford to reach a bowl game.

Oregon State, at Wake Forest, Syracuse, Stanford, and then at SMU.

Predicted Finish (6-6, 3-5)
