The ACC’s three biggest questions of week 8.

The three biggest ACC football questions of the week. Here we go for Week 8.

Can Georgia Tech beat Notre Dame without a healthy Haynes King?

Georgia Tech starting QB Haynes King is listed as day to day. Against UNC he had to sit most of the 4th quarter with an undisclosed injury, though most suspect it is right shoulder. Can Georgia Tech beat Notre Dame if King is less than 100% or if back Zach Pyron plays? King at 100% has the skillset as a running QB and his ability to pass to keep the Irish defense honest, but as we saw against UNC his deep ball is off. Zach Pyron is a capable passer but isn’t the runner King is. It’s a dilemma for Georgia Tech, and you may want to go with the fully healthy Pyron. Can Georgia Tech beat Notre Dame with Pyron? Yes, a healthy King is obviously still the best option.

Does Miami finally lose this week?

Louisville is the worst kind of opponent for Miami to face. One that is more than good enough to beat you, but one that if you lose to will cause a sizeable rankings hit to the Canes. Miami narrowly escaped Virginia Tech and Cal, but Louisville is better than either of them. The game is also at Louisville. Miami is coming off a BYE, but I have major concerns about the Hurricanes defense. If they get by Louisville they have FSU and Duke at home, and I like their chances to get to 9-0. This will be a close game, but I think Miami used that off-week to address some of the issues we saw recently. We’ll see…

Who jump starts their season Boston College or Virginia Tech?

This is an intriguing Thursday night game. Boston College and Virginia Tech have, at times, looked really good this season, but they’ve also shown a lot of inconsistency. Virginia Tech is hosting a vintage Thursday game in Blacksburg, and I just feel like this is a game where we’re going to see Virginia Tech play some of its best football of the season.
