2024 Week 6 ACC Football Power Rankings

ACC Team of the Week : Wake Forest – for a 34-30 win over NC State

17. Florida State (1-5)

Last Week: 16

Florida State played with some pride against Clemson, but you never felt they could actually win in a 29-13 loss. The Noles are like the football version of the bad news bears. Even when the play call is the right one, they find a way to mess it up.

16. North Carolina (3-3)

Last Week: 14

70 points to James Madison, blown 20-point lead to Duke, 34 points and 500+ yards to Pitt. Yea the Geoff Collins hire as DC has been a disaster. Georgia Tech and their potent offense is next.

15. Stanford  (2-3)

Last Week: 13

Stanford competes, but they just have too many deficiencies overall to compete in the ACC. It showed against Virginia Tech.

14. NC State (3-3)

Last Week: 12

NC State losing to Wake Forest at home was a stunner. The Wolfpack now host a dangerous Syracuse team. NC State is getting worse as the season progresses.

13. Wake Forest (2-3)

Last Week: 17

I didn’t see Wake Forest beating NC State, but the Deacs showed something. They’ll be overmatched against Clemson, but didn’t we all think that with Vanderbilt and Alabama?

12. Virginia Tech (3-3)

Last Week: 15

Virginia Tech is trending in the right direction after a dominating win at Stanford. This isn’t a team I’d want to face in the 2nd half of the season.

11. California  (3-2)

Last Week: 8

Cal is Florida State’s only win, and that’s bad enough. I still like this team, but you must win when you lead 35-10 late in the 3rd quarter to Miami. A trip to surging Pitt will be tough.

10. Boston College (4-2)

Last Week: 3

Boston College looked listless in a 24-14 loss to Virginia. They get a week to think about it with a BYE coming up.

9. Virginia  (4-1)

Last Week: 11

Virginia is quietly one of the ACC’s most surprising teams. Louisville is coming to town in what is suddenly a very pivotal ACC game.

8. Duke (5-1)

Last Week: 6

Duke’s struggling offense finally caught with them against Georgia Tech. They have a week to prepare for reeling FSU.

7. Georgia Tech (4-2)

Last Week : 10

Georgia Tech rallied to beat Duke 24-14 in a must-win. Decent to good teams don’t lose to UNC. We’re about find out where Georgia Tech is really at.

6. Louisville (3-2)

Last Week: 5

Louisville is starting to lose their grip on a promising season after going to down to SMU at home. A game at Virginia is much more dangerous than it looked earlier this year.

5. Syracuse (4-1)

Last week: 9

Syracuse went on the road and beat a good UNLV team. NC State is slipping, but that is another road test.

4. SMU  (5-1)

Last Week: 7

When SMU blew out TCU and FSU, we noticed. After they won Louisville they now have our full attention. They really can reach the ACC title game.

3. Pitt (5-0)

Last week:  4

Pitt is 5-0, and now hosts a Cal team coming off an emotional loss. They were a decent team to start, but now is a true ACC contender.

2. Clemson (4-1)

Last Week: 2

FSU never threatened Clemson in a win that didn’t take much effort after going up 17-0, for a 29-16 win. Wake Forest is coming off a win, after all the upsets this past week, Clemson needs to close things out early.

1. Miami (6-0)

Last Week: 1

Miami escaped another ACC game with the Heisman-caliber heroics of Cam Ward against Cal. Miami goes into the BYE week with major issues to work on defensively though.
