ACC Team of the Week : SMU – for a 42-16 win over Florida State
17. Wake Forest (1-3)
Last Week: 17
Wake Forest just lost 41-38 to Louisiana to fall 1-3. The Deacs program is in a bad way, and I’m not sure Dave Clawson has any answers. NC State is next.
16. Florida State (1-4)
Last Week: 14
If anyone can unseat Wake Forest as the ACC’s worst team, it’s Florida State. The 42-16 thumping at the hands of SMU is just another embarrassment in a disastrous season. Now the Noles get to play the ACC’s hottest team in Clemson.
15. Virginia Tech (2-3)
Last Week: 15
Virginia Tech came within a controversial call of winning at Miami, but at 2-3 you are what your record is. A game at Stanford is extremely dangerous.
14. North Carolina (3-2)
Last Week: 13
North Carolina is sinking fast. The defense is in shambles after giving up 70 points to James Madison, and then blowing a 20-point lead to Duke. Geoff Collins is the gift that keeps on giving.
13. Stanford (2-2)
Last Week: 12
Stanford was simply overmatched against Clemson. Virginia Tech is next.
12. NC State (3-2)
Last Week: 16
NC State win over a Northern Illinois team that beat Notre Dame is better than it appears. With Wake Forest next, the Pack should get back-to-back wins.
11. Virginia (3-1)
Last Week: 11
If Virginia beats Boston College, Virginia could really have something to work with.
10. Georgia Tech (3-2)
Last Week : 10
Georgia Tech better not lose to Duke, or their season might fall apart.
9. Syracuse (3-1)
Last week: 9
Syracuse gets a top 25 UNLV game on the road. UNLV also doesn’t have it’s starting QB.
8. California (3-1)
Last Week: 7
Gameday is headed to Cal for the first time as Cal faces Miami. That’s a showcase day for the ACC.
7. SMU (4-1)
Last Week: 8
SMU is getting good fast. They destroyed one of the worst teams in the ACC in FSU, and now they get a significant step up in competition against Louisville.
6. Duke (5-0)
Last Week: 6
Duke had an epic comeback in 21-20 win over UNC. Georgia Tech is a good test, and if they knock off the Jackets they can think really big going into their BYE week.
5. Louisville (3-1)
Last Week: 3
Louisville was competitive against Notre Dame, but just had too many mistakes. They can still contend in the ACC, and SMU is an intriguing game.
4. Pitt (4-0)
Last week: 4
Ok Pitt, here is your chance to stamp yourself a contender in the ACC and send UNC season into total disarray.
3. Boston College (4-1)
Last Week: 2
Boston College is a different team when QB Thomas Castellanos plays. They’ll need his return against Virginia.
2. Clemson (3-1)
Last Week: 5
I’m ready to start rewarding Clemson for their recent great play. They hammered their third straight opponent. Will FSU be the fourth?
1. Miami (5-0)
Last Week: 1
Virginia Tech exposed Miami’s lack of physicality in nearly knocking off the Canes. They’ll get a quality Cal team next.
