ACC Football Coach Hotseat Rankings through one-fourth of season (1-9)

ACC Hotseat Rankings 10-17

We go from the coldest to the hottest.

0 – Ice Cold

1 – Still cool

2 – There’s smoke

3 – Getting Warm

4 – On Fire

5 – Start working on the resume

Manny Diaz, Duke = 0

Previous = 0

Duke is 4-0. That’s a perfect start. What more could any Duke fan ask for?

Bill O’Brien, Boston College = 0

Previous = 0

Bill O’Brien is rebuilding the culture at Boston College. Their only loss is 6 point defeat at top 15 Missouri. Their win over the previous 3-0 Michigan State on Red Bandana night was one of the bigger OOC wins by an ACC team this year.

Fran Brown, Syracuse = .1

Previous = 0

Fran Brown got off to a 3-0 start, but a listless loss to underdog Stanford drew some comparisons to Dino Babers.

Rhett Lashlee, SMU = .1

Previous = 0

SMU has had an uneven start in their play, but they’ve gotten to 3-1. Rhett Lashlee is fine, and they looked great against TCU.

Jeff Brohm, Louisville = .1

Previous = .1

Losing their final 3 games in 2024 does leave just a smidge of a question from last year, but Louisville is 3-0 and ranked in the top 20. Louisville fans love some Jeff Brohm.

Dabo Swinney, Clemson = .5

Previous = .5

Losing to Georgia 34-3, had people questioning Swinney yet again, but they’ve played like a top 10 team since. Plus he has all that equity built up.

Brent Key, Georgia Tech = .75

Previous = .5

Georgia Tech fans are generally pleased with Key, but he’s starting to get a bit of a reputation for some inconsistent decision-making. If Georgia Tech misses the post-season that would be a bad look.

Pat Narduzzi, Pittsburgh = .75

Previous = 1.5

Pat Narduzzi had a rough 2023 going 3-9, and there were whispers going into this season. Starting the season 4-0 and beating arch rival West Virginia quiets a lot of things.

Brent Pry, Virginia Tech = 1

Previous = .5

All of the pre-season optimism was gone after game 1 with a loss at Vanderbilt as a heavy favorite. Then you had a recent loss to Rutgers with Miami up next. Virginia Tech is one of the ACC’s early-season disappointments.
