2024 Week 3 ACC Football Power Rankings

ACC Team of the Week : Pittsburgh – for a 38-34 win over West Virginia

17. Florida State (0-3)

Last Week: 17

Florida State strengthens their grip on dead last in the ACC with another loss. Memphis beat FSU 20-12. Now the schedule gets really tough as a feisty 3-0 Cal team comes to Doak.

16. Stanford  (1-1)

Last Week: 16

Hard to tell where Stanford is really at, but they better bring their A game against Syracuse.

15. Wake Forest (1-2)

Last Week: 15

Wake Forest didn’t even looked they belonged on the same field as Ole Miss. Louisiana is next, and I fear this might as high as you’ll see the Deacs all year.

14. SMU  (2-1)

Last Week: 13

I just can’t get out of my mind how bad SMU looked against Nevada and BYU. If they beat TCU though, they could start to turn things around.

13. Virginia  (2-1)

Last Week: 11

Virginia simply ran out of gas against Maryland. Coastal Carolina is a dangerous game, and is a must if the Hoos want to think about a bowl game.

12. Virginia Tech (2-1)

Last Week: 14

Virginia Tech’s loss to Vanderbilt looks even worse as Vandy just lost to Georgia State. They have won 2 games since then. Beat Rutgers and we’ll believe things are turning around.

11. NC State (2-1)

Last Week: 12

NC State really hasn’t played consistently good football at any point this season. They struggled with Louisiana Tech and now get to go to Clemson.

10. Duke (3-0)

Last Week: 9

Duke shouldn’t have to work so hard to beat UCONN, but they are 3-0. Don’t slip up at Middle Tennessee State.

9. Georgia Tech (3-1)

Last Week : 10

Georgia Tech blasted VMI 59-7 as they should. A game at Louisville will test their shaky defense.

8. Syracuse (2-0)

Last week: 7

Syracuse has had a week to get ready for Stanford. Kyle McCord might put up video game numbers in that one.

7. Clemson (1-1)

Last Week: 6

Clemson drops through no fault of their own, but Pitt makes a major move. Also if you didn’t see Georgia struggle with Kentucky, then I’m not sold on Clemson yet. Take care of NC State comfortably and we’ll notice.

6. Pitt (3-0)

Last week:  8

You have to reward Pitt for another wild comeback. This time in a classic they defeated West Virginia 38-34. Youngstown St. should get Pitt to 4-0.

5. North Carolina (3-0)

Last Week: 5

North Carolina doesn’t look dominant, but they keep taking care of business. The game with NC Central was a bit more of a struggle than it should have been. James Madison is another chance to clean things up.

4. Louisville (2-0)

Last Week: 4

Louisville gets a massive step up in competition in Georgia Tech than what they’ve seen their first two games. We’ll know a lot more about Louisville after that game.

3. Boston College (2-1)

Last Week: 2

Boston College played right with a top-10 Missouri on the road in a 27-21 loss. 3-0 Michigan State will be another litmus test.

2. California  (3-0)

Last Week: 3

Cal has gotten to 3-0 without Jayden Ott being healthy. Their defense is one of the ACC’s best, and now they head to FSU.

1. Miami (3-0)

Last Week: 1

Miami just keeps cruising blowing out Ball State. South Florida may provide a few challenges, but I expect Miami to keep marching right along.
