2024 Week 2 ACC Football Power Rankings

ACC Team of the Week : Cal – for a 21-14 win at Auburn

17. Florida State (0-2)

Last Week: 17

There’s no reason to move Florida State from the bottom of the power rankings. They are the ACC’s only winless team, and now host a Memphis team that could send to 0-3 if they don’t play well.

16. Stanford  (1-1)

Last Week: 16

Stanford picked up a win over the Cal-Poly Mustangs this week. They get a week to prepare for a much improved Syracuse team.

15. Wake Forest (1-1)

Last Week: 11

Wake Forest lost a tight game to Virginia. Their reward? A matchup with a very good Ole Miss team. This won’t end well for the Deacs.

14. Virginia Tech (1-1)

Last Week: 15

Virginia Tech has been the ACC’s most inconsistent team as they have mixed brilliant moments with disastrous ones. They beat Marshall this past week, but they better not sleep on a road game at Old Dominion.

13. SMU  (2-1)

Last Week: 8

SMU suddenly has a QB problem. Preston Stone struggled and Kevin Jennings wasn’t a whole lot better in a poorly played loss to BYU. With TCU after a BYE week, the season could spiral out of control.

12. NC State (1-1)

Last Week: 7

NC State looked overmatched at every level against Tennesssee and that was after struggling Western Carolina. Their warning flags popping up everywhere. Louisiana Tech is next.

11. Virginia  (2-0)

Last Week: 12

Virginia won at 31-30 at Wake Forest. Maryland is a test, but if the Hoos win the season will take on a totally new outlook.

10. Georgia Tech (2-1)

Last Week : 2

Georgia Tech plummets in the poll not so much because they lost, but becuase so many other ACC teams had nice wins. That said Syracuse exposed all kinds of defensive issues in the 31-28 loss. VMI came at the right time to get things worked on.

9. Duke (2-0)

Last Week: 14

Duke showed a ton of grit winning at Northwestern in OT. QB Maalik Murphy looked like a new QB in the 4th qtr and OT, and now Duke has a great shot to start the year 3-0 with UCONN next.

8. Pitt (2-0)

Last week:  10

Pittsburgh trailed Cincinnati 27-6 on the road and made a wild comeback to win 28-27. Pitt beats West Virginia in their next game, and the Panthers couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season.

7. Syracuse (2-0)

Last week: 9

QB Kyle McCord is playing at an extremely high level as Georgia Tech looked helpless on defense. Now the the Orange get an extra week to prep for Stanford.

6. Clemson (1-1)

Last Week: 6

Clemson took the training wheels off the offense and dropped 66 on App State. Is this something real? We won’t know for sure for a couple of weeks, with a BYE upcoming. It was a positive sign though.

5. North Carolina (2-0)

Last Week: 5

North Carolina was never really threatened by UNC-Charlotte in a 38-20 win. NC-Central is another game to clean things up.

4. Louisville (2-0)

Last Week: 4

Louisville is the ACC version of Missouri. They’ve looked great against overmatched teams. They get a BYE week to prepare for Georgia Tech.

3. California  (2-0)

Last Week: 13

California flies up the rankings with an impressive win at Auburn. Don’t take San Diego State for granted and lose the momentum just gained.

2. Boston College (2-0)

Last Week: 3

Duquesne was no match for BC and now the Eagles face a Missouri team on the road that hasn’t played anyone with a pulse. This is a sneaky very intriguing game, and if BC wins this the season could really take off.

1. Miami (2-0)

Last Week: 1

Miami could have named the score against Florida A&M. It will be the same against Ball State,
