Did @EricMaclain just become the hero the ACC and Clemson needs?

It was the tweet heard around the college football world.

ACC Network personality and former Clemson football player @EricMaclain said what we’ve all been thinking for years in response to this statement from ESPN’s Heather Dinich.

From Clemson site TigerNet.com

Mac Lain responded to the outlet’s post and, therefore, Dinich’s words on Twitter.

“Here we go with this trash again,” Mac Lain said succinctly.

I would have posted MacLain’s tweet, except it was deleted, which is totally another story. Who reached out to MacLain to tell him to delete it? When Paul Finebaum can attack Dabo Swinney and Clemson on a virtual weekly basis. Maybe it was because it was another ESPN journalist. Who knows, but it was odd he removed it. In any case he said it. It needed to be said and  remember a few weeks ago when all the talk was the ACC needed a voice to ruffle feathers. Maybe Eric Maclain is the hero the ACC and Clemson needs.

Maclain obviously defended Clemson, but also the ACC. He was outspoken, passionate, and right on target.

I’ve never been a fan of Dinich, and I didn’t mind when she stopped covering the ACC as David Hale and Andreas Adelson took over. Their reporting I far preferred over hers.

Maclain is part of a group ACC Network personalities that have come a long way in the last year. It really turned the corner last December during the Florida State college football snub.  Maybe ESPN won’t give these personalities national platforms, but they are on the ACC Network and their voices are starting to get out, and fans are noticing.

Eric Maclain went on local Clemson Sports Radio Show 105.5 the Roar ,  and spoke his mind. It’s worth a listen.

Keep up the good work Eric, we see you!
