Good evening, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.
I was actually trying to find a Wikipedia entry for Roddy Jones – so I could credit Wikipedia Commons for a photo (fair use) to publicize him – but i couldn’t find one – so we’re using the Georgia Tech logo.
I’ve been pretty impressed with the overall ability of Roddy Jones on the ESPN family of networks – that’s either as a guest on the ACC Network shows – or as a football or baseball analyst. He’s a smart man – and a breath of fresh air. You can tell that he took his education seriously at Georgia Tech. From the Rumble Seat has a really good profile of him here:
His next breakthrough came in 2019 with the establishment of the ACC Network, as Jones was tabbed as an analyst for the budding network. Since 2019, Jones has covered ACC games and offered weekly analysis on a plethora of shows and podcasts, becoming a featured talking head for all things ACC football. While I wish he were a bit more of a homer, I can’t fault Roddy for his quality takes and predictions. Unlike our own Joey Weaver, taking ‘Rodstradamus’ weekly picks will net you quite a bit of Van Gorder coin.
This is, of course, what most Georgia Tech fans think of – when they hear the name Roddy Jones:
But Roddy Jones seems to have found himself in a good spot with ESPN. I could see him moving to one of the top ESPN broadcast teams. He’s a legit talent.
