We are an ACC blog here obviously, and we’ve covered the ACC’s best conference games for 2024, and the ACC’s best non-conference games.
What 10 games that don’t feature an ACC team are we most looking forward to catching?
1) Georgia vs Texas – October 19, 2024
Georgia is the current standard in college football. In the last three years nobody has been better. Texas wants to be where Georgia is and this year Longhorns might just be able to do it. The QB battle between Quinn Ewers and Carson Beck is going to be unreal. Some NFL QB matchups might not be that good.
2) Georgia vs Alabama – September 28, 2024
What will Alabama look like post Nick Saban? Alabama has to go to Wisconsin, but honestly, I see this game as Alabama’s first true huge game under Kalen Deboar. You wait if Alabama loses, there will already be hotseat mentions for Deboar. Georgia plays Clemson, Alabama, and Texas before the leaves finish change – whew!
3) Oregon vs Ohio State – October 12, 2024
Ohio State heading Oregon is a fantastic cross-country battle that’s now a conference game. Autzen Stadium should be electric for this one. The Ducks could absolutely make a statement with a victory. Ohio State should cruise into this game undefeated. Oregon has a bit tougher path, but I expected they’ll be undefeated too.
4) Michigan vs Ohio State, November 30, 2024
I’m mainly interested in this game to see Buckeye fan reactions if Ryan Day loses a 4th straight game to Michigan. For all Day’s success, Ohio State has fallen behind Michigan. There is no Jim Harbaugh to contend with for Day, but don’t underestimate new coach Sherrone Moore. This had been a top 5 the last three years.
5) LSU vs Alabama – November 9, 2024
I actually think there might be better matchups this year based on rankings, but there is just something about Alabama playing at LSU that is just one of the best environments in college football. This is one of those games you just hope is at night. Brian Kelly has been very good at LSU, but not great. If LSU wins this game, I predict they’ll make the college football playoff.
