Best / Worst Case Record for :

Louisville | Virginia | Miami | Duke | Georgia Tech | SMU | Pittsburgh | Florida State | Virginia Tech | Cal |  NC State | Clemson |  Syracuse | North Carolina | Stanford| Wake Forest

ACC 2024 Football Schedule

Boston College

Boston College had an uneven weird 2024. At one point, they stood 6-3, lost three games in a row, and then won their bowl over a quality SMU team. Oh yeah their head coach Jeff Hafley moved on to be a DC for the Green Bay Packers. They came within an eyelash of beating Florida State but lost to 3-win Pittsburgh. That’s been Boston College for nearly 15 years. They have neither been truly awful, but never really all that good. Just when momentum starts it’s gone. Jeff Hafley was starting to show signs of turning the corner, but now new coach Bill O’Brien is tasked with guiding BC. He brings a wealth of experience and has the fine Thomas Castellanos at QB to work with.

Will Go 8-4 (5-3) if:

If Thomas Castellanos becomes a more consistent passer. The ACC is loaded at the QB, and Castellanos might be the best dual-threat of them all. Last season he had over 2000 yards in the air and over 1000 yards on the ground. He did throw 14 interceptions and completed under 60% of his passes. He improves those numbers Eagles offense could be a true headache. The early schedule is tough at FSU,  at Missouri, and Michigan State in the first 5 games. If they can go 3-2 out of the gate, I can see a 5-2 finish. Virginia Tech on the road looks like the toughest second-half game. Both the offense and defense were merely average last year. If one of those units could be top 50 nationally without the other slipping from 2023, Boston College could really sneak up on people.

Will Go 3-9 (1-7) if:

The transition to Bill O’ Brien doesn’t go well. First year at BC, and Florida State in game one. BC could easily start the season 1-3, then after Western Kentucky there are road games at Virginia, and at Virginia Tech, before what should be a good Louisville team. A 2-6 start is not out of the question and could derail the season in a hurry. The rush defense was just awful last year, and if it doesn’t improve that could keep BC from even reaching a bowl.  Outside of Duquesne and Western Kentucky, Boston College won’t be heavily favored in any game.
