ACC 2024 Football Schedule

Georgia Tech

Welcome back Georgia Tech we’ve missed you. Since the end of the Paul Johnson era, the Yellow Jackets program had been flailing aimlessly around under Geoff Collins. Brent Key was brought in mid-way of 2022 and Georgia Tech showed signs of life. Last year the progress was unmistakable. Georgia Tech had their first winning season since 2018 and had their first bowl win since 2016. Despite some early season hiccups, the Jackets got better as the season progressed. The offense was humming by the end of the year. Can the Jackets back it up in 2024 despite a brutal schedule?

Will Go 9-3 (4-4) if:

Georgia Tech’s defense can take a leap. The offense has some of the most underrated talent in the ACC. QB Haynes King, RB Jamal Haynes, and WR Eric Singleton are one of the better offensive trios in the ACC. The defense well that’s another story. The unit was dreadful at 120th in the country last year. That’s how good the offense was, that Georgia Tech overcame their defense. If that unit can just be average, not even good Georgia Tech could be excellent. If they beat FSU in the opener, the season could take off. Even with games at Louisville, at UNC, Notre Dame, at Virginia Tech, Miami, NC State, and at Georgia, I can see the Jackets getting on a roll and winning 3 or 4 of those games. The defensive improvement is key, and that starts with finding a pass rush that was at best hit or miss last year.

Will Go 4-8 (2-6) if:

The schedule is simply too much to handle. Georgia Tech could be better, but their record due to a schedule that would make Alabama do a double-take could be a big letdown. Florida State, Notre Dame, and Georgia could be losses right out of the gate. Now you have to go 6-3 just to make a bowl. You haven’t even got to games at Louisville, at North Carolina, at Virginia Tech, Miami, and NC State. Now you can’t get upset either. Whew! Schedule, Schedule and more schedule, and if that defense still struggles again and the offense has even a slight setback… Georgia Tech could find itself missing the post-season.
