The ACC’s 10 best Conference Football Games for 2024 (6-10)

May is usually the time to start thinking about the college football season. We’re a little early to start a player analysis, but it’s time for a deep dive into the schedule. We’ve already looked at the ACC’s 10  best OOC games,  and now it’s time to check in on one of the ACC’s best conference games of the season starting with games 6-10.

Games 1 – 5

6) California vs Stanford –  November 23, 2024

It certainly seems odd that Cal vs Stanford is an ACC game, but in realignment 2024 here we are. It’s actually a good thing a traditional rivalry like this can continue uninterrupted. This game is called the “Big Game” and it is the oldest rivalry in the West with the two schools meeting 126 times. One of the great rivalries in college football with schools less than 50 miles apart. Yea, it’s not what we’re used to in the ACC, but it is here so let’s have some fun with it.

7) NC State vs Clemson  –  September 21, 2024

You know how to start adding spice to a rivalry game – win. That’s exactly what NC started doing in the game known as the Textile Bowl. The Wolfpack have won 2 of the last 3 games in this series, and have contributed to Clemson slipping from the top of college football. From 2004 to 2019, NC State had 1 win over Clemson. Now this is one of the biggest games on both teams’ schedule.

8) North Carolina vs NC State –  November 30, 2024

NC State has taken control of this rivalry game with UNC in recent years winning 6 of the last 8. UNC has collapsed the last two years in the 2nd half of the season, and losing to NC State hasn’t helped in the finales either. NC State’s rise as a consistent football winner has coincided with their success against Clemson and UNC in the last few years. UNC and NC State, that’s just a good heated in-state rivalry.

9) Duke vs North Carolina – September 28, 2024

They play for the victory Bell between Duke and North Carolina, and more often than not this game has produced some wild affairs. Last season was a crazy 48-45 2 OT win for UNC, and the year before was a 38 – 35 in another win for UNC. Traditional rivalries are always going to catch my attention. There is just something about a great in-state regional rivalry, and we know about the basketball matchups. The football games are a lot of fun too.

10) Georgia Tech vs Miami – November 9, 2024

5 of the last 6 games in this series have been of the single-digit variety. Last year’s matchup produced arguably the wildest finish in college football in Georgia Tech’s 23-20 win down at Miami. Georgia Tech’s program is gradually coming out of the dark days of Geoff Collins under Brent Key. Miami can’t seem to turn the corner, but the arrival of QB Cam Ward provides a lot of optimism. Georgia Tech has its own fine QB in Haynes King, and both programs are looking to more steps forward in 2024.
