ACC Power Rankings after Bowl Season

14. Wake Forest (4-8, 1-7)

Last Week – 14

Wake Forest won 1 game after mid September. This was not a Dave Clawson type year, and Deacs ended up the conference’s worst team.

13. Pittsburgh (3-9, 2-6)

Last Week – 13

Pittsburgh suffered their worst season under Pat Narduzzi. Is it just a hiccup or is the program headed towards a prolonged decline?

12. Virginia (3-9, 2-6)

Last Week – 12

Virginia didn’t even compete in stunningly bad effort against their arch rival Virginia Tech. Now there are more questions than answers going into next season. Tony Elliot’s seat will be warm.

11. Syracuse (6-7, 2-6)

Last Week – 11

Syracuse made a bowl, and then opted out of the whole losing 45-0 to South Florida.

10. Boston College (7-6, 3-5)

Last Week – 10

We were rough on BC as they struggled down the stretch, but that was a nice win over a ranked SMU team in the bowl.

9. Miami (7-6, 3-5)

Last Week – 9

The bowl game against Rutgers didn’t inspire any hope going into next season.

8. North Carolina (8-5, 4-4)

Last Week – 6

North Carolina crashed and burned the 2nd half of the season, and there is no more Drake Maye.

7. Virginia Tech (7-6, 5-3)

Last Week – 8

Virginia Tech really came alive at the end of the year blowing out Virginia then thumping Tulane in the bowl. QB Kyron Drones is a talent.

6. Duke (8-5, 4-4)

Last Week – 7

Good for Duke to finish the season with a bowl win after Mike Elko’s departure.

5. Georgia Tech (7-6, 5-3)

Last Week – 5

Georgia Tech ended the season beating Syracuse, taking Georgia to the 4th quarter, and beating Central Florida by double digits in a bowl game. Inconsistent early in the year, the Jackets became one the ACC’s better teams by the end of the year.

4. Louisville (10-4, 7-1)

Last Week – 4

You can’t take away from Louisville the season they had getting to 10-1 and making the ACC Title game, but losing those final 3 still stings.

3. NC State (9-4, 6-2)

Last Week – 2

You can’t get on NC State too much for losing to Kansas State  in the bowl, but oh how a 10 win season would have been so nice.

2. Clemson (9-4, 4-4)

Last Week – 3

Clemson beat Kentucky in the Gator Bowl in a riveting game. The Tigers won their last 5 games, and salvaged a 9-4 season that could have been a disaster.

1. Florida State (13-1, 8-0)

Last Week – 1

Never mind what happened in the Orange Bowl. It was meaningless, Florida State was an amazing team that was playoff caliber.
