The ACC’s three biggest questions of week 12

We ask the three biggest ACC football question marks of that week. Here we go for Week 12.

Who gets bowl-eligible Syracuse or Georgia Tech?

Georgia Tech’s defense is giving up 224 yards a game on the ground. Syracuse just ran for nearly 400 on Pittsburgh. Georgia Tech has one of the worst defenses in college football and Syracuse has one of the worst offenses. The game is in Atlanta at night, but you never know which Jacket team will show up. Both teams are playing for bowl eligibility, and Syracuse might be playing for Dino Babers’s job. For two 5-5 teams, there’s a ton on the line in this one. If Georgia Tech can get a good game from QB Haynes King you have to like their chances.

Can Louisville get their 10 regular season win at Miami?

Miami has lost 4 of their 6 games since starting 4-0, and the season is starting to go off the rails. Louisville comes to town on the fringe of the playoffs. This seems like a very even matchup. This is a dangerous game for Louisville even with struggling QB Tyler Van Dyke playing now. I know Florida State would appreciate a win over Miami for rivalry reasons, and to get the highest-ranked ACC team in the ACCCG as possible. Sure it’s possible the Cards can win in Miami, and it would show a ton of maturity if they pull it off.

Does Clemson take another step forward against North Carolina?

Let’s be honest we had pretty much forgotten about Clemson after their 4-4 start. Since then they beat top 20 Notre Dame and an inconsistent but dangerous Georgia Tech team.  Now UNC’s top 10 offense faces Clemson’s top 10 defense. This should be a great matchup. Clemson’s offense isn’t great but has stabilized the last couple of weeks, while against decent offenses the Heel’s defense has fallen apart. There are worse statistical defenses in the ACC, but I’m not sure there are worse-coached ones. The game is also in Death Valley where Clemson is an OT from being undefeated. I give Clemson the edge here.
