It’s a subtle thing early, but the ACC is the only P6 basketball conference without a loss so far. That’s a 16-0 start.
Why does it matter with the season just starting? Last year the ACC and in particular Louisville and Florida State took a ton of early-year non-conference that torpedoed the metrics of the ACC.
Sometimes avoiding ugly losses is as important as big wins, and the ACC has escaped what would have been metric-killing losses.
Louisville beat UMBC by 1. Wake Forest trailed by 19 to Elon and comeback to win. Georgia Tech fell behind to Howard by 14 in the second and won 88-85.
After last year’s start, the ACC will take it.
