The ACC’s three biggest questions of week 8

We ask the three biggest ACC football question marks of that week. Here we go for Week 8.

Who salvages their season Clemson or Miami?

The matchup between Clemson and Miami is so intriguing this Saturday for one reason. I think the loser of this game season is sunk. Both Clemson and Miami have taken stunning losses, plummeted from their season-high rankings, and probably have no shot at the ACC Championship game. One of these teams is looking at an enormously disappointing 4-3 and start. Is Miami QB Tyler Van Dyke going to be ready to go? This game should have been a top-25 matchup, but neither goes into the game ranked.

Who takes a major step towards a bowl – Boston College or Georgia Tech?

While Clemson and Miami is a game to salvage a season, Boston College / Georgia Tech is significant for a different reason. The winner in this game takes a major step toward making a bowl game. Both have looked at times like really good teams – Boston College nearly beat Florida State. Georgia Tech knocked off Miami and had a chance to knock off Louisville. Both have losses to 3-4 MAC Teams and are coming off BYE Weeks. You’d think Georgia Tech might have an advantage playing at home, but that’s where they took a brutal home loss to Bowling Green. I don’t see the loser of this game making a bowl. I don’t have a feel for this one at all.

Can Duke beat Florida State without Riley Leonard?

We asked last week if Duke could beat NC State without Riley Leonard. They did, which says a lot about both Duke and NC State. Can Duke beat Florida State without Leonard? It will be tough enough for Duke to play with FSU with Leonard but without him, Duke’s defense can keep things competitive, but they can’t beat the Noles without him. They only completed 4 passes in the NC State and that just won’t work against Florida State.
