NC State Might Be The ACC’s Most Disappointing Team

Good evening.   It’s clear that North Carolin State (NC State) is the worst football team in the Triangle right now (yes, this year, it’s third behind North Carolina and Duke).  It’s been a long time since we’ve said that here at All Sports Discussion  In fact, NC State might be the most disappointing football team in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

Why do we say all this?  NC State has no offense.  There are no playmakers on this offense – none – zero.  NC State had three points tonight vs. Duke.  Three points.   In this game vs. Duke, a Wolfpack wide receiver was the leading rusher for NC State – this is embarrassing.  NC State must go into the portal right away and get some skill position players (that’s really the only way to fix this right away, but you also have to develop some wide receivers and running backs if you’re NC State).

Let’s take a look at NC State’s schedule for the rest of the year:  NC State is on the bye week, Clemson at home, Miami at home, at Wake Forest, at Virginia Tech, and North Carolina at home.  It is not out of the realm of possibility for NC State to lose every game or go 1-4 in this group of games.  I actually think that 2-3 is the ceiling for NC State – but they can absolutely lose at Wake Forest and at Virginia Tech because the Wolfpack offense is so atrocious (NC State’s defense can only do so much).  Most people in our ACC predictions post had NC State at 8-4 – some had NC State at 9-3 – the lowest was at 7-5 (you can see that post here).  There’s a very possibility that NC State finishes below .500.

In 2023, NC State is one of your candidates for the ACC’s most disappointing team.
