Dino Babers currently sits at 40-52 overall and 18-42 in the ACC following a blowout loss to Florida State on Saturday. Take out the magical 2018 10-3 season and Syracuse hasn’t been able to turn the corner under Babers. Last year Syracuse started the year 6-0 only to lose 6 of their final 7 games.
This Syracuse started the year 4-0, and now have lost 3 games in a row, and all by blowout. Now they have been to quality team Clemson, North Carolina, and Florida State, but Syracuse’s season and Dino Babers tenure is at a crossroads.
Sitting 4-3 (0-3), Syracuse has faced the toughest part of their schedule. It eases up significantly in the final 5 games.
Syracuse finishes the season with a game at Virginia Tech, Boston College, Pittsburgh, at Georgia Tech, and Wake Forest.
There are no top 25 teams in that group.
If Syracuse can go 3-2 for a 7-5 finish, and a bowl win, I think Babers will survive. Actually, any scenario where Babers wins 8 games I think he’ll get another year.
Anything that results in a losing season, and that might be it for Babers.
A 7 win season becomes the grey area. That result could go either way.
The finishing kick of a schedule is hardly daunting, and you have an experienced QB in Garrett Shrader.
Five games – five games you should be able to compete in. Those games will decide the fate of Dino Babers.
