Louisville ends Notre Dame’s reign of ACC terror and goes to 6-0.

It was September 17, 2016, when Louisville beat the #2 ranked Florida State 63-20 to move QB Lamar Jackson in the Heisman chase and move into the top 5.

That was the last time Louisville had such a nationally relevant win – until tonight.

The Cardinals came into the game 5-0, but it was a little bit suspect. Louisville has been alternating brilliant and sloppy play all season, and usually in the same game. 5-0 is 5-0 though and we wondered what would Louisville look like if they put together a full 60-minute game.

Tonight the football world and Notre Dame found out.

The Louisville Cardinals when they put it all together are good, I mean really good.

Louisville emphatically ended Notre Dame’s 30-game regular season winning streak against ACC teams in a stunning 33-20 win over #11 Notre Dame. This win is obviously good for the ACC as a conference, but this is Louisville’s moment in the sun.

What was the most stunning about the Louisville victory was how Cardinal out-muscled the Irish in the trenches.

I didn’t think that would be possible.

Louisville rushed for 185 yards and held Notre Dame to just 44 on the ground with only 298 totals. The Cardinals defense forced 5 Notre Dame turnovers. It was a complete victory for Louisville and puts Jeff Brohm squarely into the ACC COY chase.

Now the Cardinal can think big. We’re talking about the ACC Championship game and even the playoffs.

Notre Dame was the Cardinal’s biggest test of the season.

They passed, but there are still tough opponents.

Duke is there, but it’s at home and we don’t know about the health of QB Riley Leonard. There’s a game at Miami, but the Canes just lost to Georgia Tech to go with that Texas A&M win so where will they be by the time that game rolls around? What about a game with Kentucky? Sure the Wildcats could be a problem. That game is at Louisville and Kentucky just got exposed in 51-13 beatdown to Georgia.

Why not Louisville after what we saw tonight?

Congrats to the Cards and their fans on an incredible victory.
