2023 Week 5 ACC Football Power Rankings

14. Virginia (0-4, 0-1)

Last Week – 14

Virginia finds new and innovative ways to lose each week. Boston College is one of the remaining games they’ll have a shot in.

13. Virginia Tech (1-3, 0-0)

Last Week – 13

Virginia Tech is a home underdog to a bad Pitt team. That’s how bad things are for the Hokies.

12. Boston College (1-3, 0-2)

Last Week – 11

The ACC pillow fight series continues with Boston College going to Virginia. Are we sure BC almost beat FSU?

11. Pittsburgh (1-3, 0-1)

Last Week – 10

Pitt really did win 20 games the last two years. I swear. They meet Virginia Tech in a night game pillow fight.

10. Wake Forest (3-1, 0-1)

Last Week – 8

Wake Forest played sloppy and got by Old Dominion. They weren’t so fortunate against Georgia Tech. The Deacs need to use this BYE week to clean things up.

9. Georgia Tech (2-2, 1-1)

Last Week – 12

Georgia Tech played their best game of the year winning at Wake Forest. Bowling Green should get them to 3-2 – should.

8. Clemson (2-2, 0-2)

Last Week – 6

Part of me thinks Clemson made a lot of strides nearly knocking off FSU, then I remember Boston College nearly beat FSU at home too the week before too. Call me unconvinced until Clemson actually beats a team with a pulse. Syracuse will be ready.

7. NC State (3-1, 1-0)

Last Week – 9

The Wolfpack got to 3-1 with a less than stirring performance against Virginia. Now if they beat Louisville they’ll catch our attention.

6. Syracuse (4-0, 0-0)

Last Week – 6

Dino Babers knows how to compete Clemson and suddenly Clemson can’t beat decent teams. Syracuse has a very real shot to beat the Tigers.

5. Louisville (4-0, 2-0)

Last Week – 5

Louisville might be the quietest 4-0 team in the country. If the Cardinals get to 5-0 after a road trip to NC State they better get ranked.

4. Miami (4-0, 1-0)

Last Week – 4

The Canes earn a week off to prepare for sneaky improved Georgia Tech.

3. Duke (4-0, 1-0)

Last Week – 3

Gameday, sold-out crowd, and a top 20 matchup with Notre Dame. This is oh so big for Duke football.

2. North Carolina (4-0, 1-0)

Last Week – 2

North Carolina is growing. They aren’t a finished product, but unlike last year they closing out games even if they don’t have their best stuff. They’ve done good early work, now they get a week to rest.

1. Florida State (4-0, 2-0)

Last Week – 1

Florida State took every shot Clemson could muster, with a not fully healthy Jordan Travis, and they still won. Virginia Tech is a breather after two tough games.
