2023 Week 3 ACC Football Power Rankings

14. Virginia (0-2, 0-0)

Last Week – 13

After losing to James Madison 36-35 and blowing a 4th quarter lead, there is a non-zero chance that Virginia could go winless. At this point, a 3 win season seems like a real stretch.

13. Boston College (1-1, 0-0)

Last Week – 14

I’m pretty positive Boston College isn’t much better than Virginia, but they managed to beat Holy Cross – barely. The Eagles will make for a good scrimmage for Florida State.

12. Syracuse (2-0, 0-0)

Last Week – 12

Syracuse has looked really good against overmatched opponents in their first two games. Now if they win at Purdue, we’ll really be paying attention.

11. Georgia Tech (1-1, 0-1)

Last Week – 11

Georgia Tech has one of the most improved offenses in the ACC. I don’t think they’ll win at Ole Miss, but they have a shot.

10. Virginia Tech (1-1, 0-0)

Last Week – 10

Losing to a pedestrian Purdue team at home shows the Hokies still have a long way to go to return to relevancy. Rutgers is this week.

9. Pittsburgh (1-1, 0-0)

Last Week – 5

It took too long for Pittsburgh to wake up against Cincinnati, and they ended up losing a disappointing game to the Bearcats. If they lose to West Virginia, it will be time to hit the panic button.

8. NC State (1-1, 0-0)

Last Week – 4

The Wolfpack gave a good defensive effort for 3 quarters, but the lack of playmakers on offense could be a problem all year long.

7. Wake Forest (2-0, 0-0)

Last Week – 9

Wake Forest looked very solid against Vanderbilt. Old Dominion gives them a chance to start the year 3-0.

6. Clemson (1-1, 0-1)

Last Week – 8

Clemson was shockingly sloppy to start the game against Charleston Southern but cleaned things up in the 2nd half. Florida Atlantic is a step up in competition.

5. Louisville (2-0, 1-0)

Last Week – 7

WR Jamari Thrash is really good if you didn’t know. They are starting to look like a darkhorse ACC team to watch.

4. Miami (2-0, 0-0)

Last Week – 6

Miami showed speed against Texas A&M we haven’t seen in years. They’ll be 3-0 after their game with Bethune-Cookman.

3. Duke (2-0, 1-0)

Last Week – 3

Duke followed up their Clemson win with an easy victory over Lafayette. They should be able to take care of Northwestern.

2. North Carolina (2-0, 0-0)

Last Week – 2

North Carolina struggled defensively against Appalachian State but survived behind their strong offense. Minnesota is a good solid test at home.

1. Florida State (2-0, 0-0)

Last Week – 1

What Florida State does to Boston College won’t be for the faint of heart.
