We in the ACC continue to watch from afar what is happening in the Pac 12. If they get the media deal signed, realignment quiets for several years (five or six at least). If they don’t chaos will ensue.
George Kliavkoff had this to say via CBSSports.com.
“We’ll get our media rights deal done, we’ll announce the deal. I think the realignment that’s going on in college athletics will come to an end for this cycle. The truth is we’ve got bigger fish to fry. There are incredible opportunities and also challenges in front of college athletics. I need to be able to work with all of my colleagues in Division I and particularly in the A5, and we’ll do that. We’ll move past all the bitter squabbling of the last year, and we’ll work together to make college athletics better.”
While the narrative has been ugly for the Pac-12, I remain in the camp they get this deal done. Kliavkoff showed a level of confidence that we haven’t seen previously. He says he wanted today to be about football and what’s wrong with that?
There was only one day planned for the Pac-12 Media Days, it should have been about the players and coaches.
That said, it really would benefit the Pac-12 to wrap this up in the very near future.
