Why Did @DreamTheaternet Skip 30 Million People On Its Dreamsonic Tour?

Good evening, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.  We step out of the ACC tonight to assess some popular culture. @ASD_HokieSmash’s favorite band is on tour this summer – and that’s DreamTheaterNet, the best progressive metal band in the country right now.  In 2022, Dream Theater won the Grammy Award for best metal performance – and kudos to them for staying with their style of music – they never got away from 15 minute songs – didn’t change a thing – and it worked out in the end.

I’m bias, of course, but Dream Theater provided the outstanding walk-up song for Virginia Tech’s 2002 men’s basketball team:

Dream Theater is the the type of band that maybe takes a couple of years to drop an album – but when the band drops it, the album ends up #1 on Amazon or iTunes.  It’s kind of amazing.

Site friend and guest of the @AllSportsDACC podcast, @RBrentBlevins, made me aware of this article from Billboard Magazine regarding Dream Theater’s Summer 2023 Dream Sonic tour – it is progressive metal festival – and the article is a really good read:

This news, of course, makes it all the more disappointing that Dream Theater isn’t visiting Maryland; Washington, DC; Virginia; North Carolina; or South Carolina on the Dreamsonic tour (South Carolina would be somewhat of a hike regarding a Dream Theater tour for @ASD_HokieSmash as would probably have to take an airline flight).  But how can you skip $30 million people on a summer tour?  These five states have a lot of money – and an huge population to draw from for concerts.  Dream Theater concerts absolutely sell out in Washington, DC – and it’s kind of puzzling to me because artists make more money on their tours and VIP appearance with fans – than they do on albums.  Sorry, Dream Theater but… a terrible pun here… you are not answering the call 😉
