The ACC’s 10 most intriguing conference football games for 2023 – (1-5)

We often look at the ACC’s OOC games, but what about the best conference matchups for the season?

Let’s rank the top 10 best conference games, with a look at games 6-10.

1) Florida State at Clemson – September 23, 2023

Florida State and Clemson is once again the ACC’s top game of the year. Just like in the early to mid-2010s, this game could have so much on the line. We’re talking about potential playoff and ACC title implications. The most talented teams in the ACC, and very likely a prime time TV Spot. The star power in this one is off the charts. In the ACC it, doesn’t get bigger than Florida State and Clemson in 2023.

2) Clemson at North Carolina State – October 28, 2023

The gameday atmosphere’s at Clemson, Florida State, and Virginia Tech get most of the notoriety in the ACC, but make no mistake games Carter Finley are a huge deal. NC State has won at least 8 games in the last three years, and in 2022 Clemson vs NC State was a Gameday choice. The last time Clemson went to NC State they lost. A game sandwiched between a Miami road trip and Notre Dame. This could be a huge trap game for the Tigers.

3) Florida State at Pittsburgh – November 4, 2023

Over the last couple of years, Pittsburgh has been at the top ACC’s pecking order winning 20 games, an ACC Title, and back-to-back top 25 seasons. Oh let’s not forget the Panthers have put a slew of players into the NFL too. Pittsburgh can have an excellent environment for big games. Florida State at Pittsburgh could very well be that. The Noles should be one of the ACC’s best teams, and Pittsburgh has established itself as one of the ACC’s top programs. This could be a really good one.

4) North Carolina at North Carolina State – November 25, 2023

Two in-state rivals, that could be playing for a significant bowl, maybe even more. This should be a wild scene in Raleigh. Drake Maye and Brennan Armstrong are at QB. Last year’s game went double OT. Three of the last five games have been single-score games. NC State officially killed Drake Maye’s Heisman hopes last season with the Wolfpack’s win over the Tar Heels. The Tar Heels are definitely looking for revenge.

5) Duke at North Carolina – November 11, 2023

Last year’s 38-35 victory by North Carolina was one of the best games of the year in the ACC. This quarterback matchup between Drake Maye and Riley Leonard is going to be one of the better ones we see all year. Both should be quality teams, and there could be bigtime bowl implications on the line. It should be an electric atmosphere in Chapel Hill as well. I really like this game.
