Predicting the 2023 North Carolina Tar Heels Record

The North Carolina Tar Heels open its season with three non-slouch opponents in South Carolina, App State, and Minnesota. App State and Minnesota will be played in Chapel Hill while the game against South Carolina will be played in Charlotte with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m.

UNC will then open its ACC schedule with a non-conference game against Campbell on November 4 in between weeks of playing Georgia Tech and Duke.

Drake Maye is going to be the leader of the Tar Heels in 2023. How he goes, is how the Heels go. If he isn’t producing high-end numbers then the offense won’t run as fluid as it should, thus adding unnecessary pressure to the Heels defense. The Sporting News ranked Maye as the second-best quarterback in college football behind USC’s Caleb Williams.

As of January 21, Maye has the second-best chance to win the Heisman behind, you guessed it, Williams.

North Carolina record prediction:

  • South Carolina – W
  • App State – W
  • Minnesota – W
  • Pitt – W
  • Syracuse – W
  • Miami – W
  • Virginia – W
  • Georgia Tech – W
  • Campbell – W
  • Duke – W
  • Clemson – L
  • NC State – L

UNC starts off hot and stays hot down to their final two games of the season against Clemson and NC State where they drop two consecutive ACC games and fall out of the ACC Championship conversation. The final record prediction for the Tar Heels is (10-2, 6-2) on the year. Don’t be surprised if they lose to Georgia Tech as they may be looking ahead to Campbell and the same can be said as to when they face Duke as they could be looking ahead to Clemson.
