Have you the seen latest NCAA Baseball Projections? The ACC is a top 2 baseball league, and most projections have at least 8 ACC teams in the field, usually 9.
When you look at ACC you have to divide it into tiers.
Locks
Wake Forest (2), Clemson (8), Virginia (9), Miami, Duke (12), Boston College (14), and UNC (24).
Wake Forest is the nation’s number 1 team, and Clemson, Virginia, Miami, Duke, Boston and UNC are jockeying for regional seeds. I think in the end either Clemson, Virginia, or Miami will also end up as a national seed along with Wake Forest. Could Boston College for example lose out in the final week, not win an ACCT game and miss field? I suppose that is possible, but all are in the top 25 RPI. I consider them all locks right now.
Bubble but In
Notre Dame (46)
Notre Dame just swept Akron which really didn’t do much for it’s resume. They are 29-19 (14-13), and should be in pretty good shape. I would advise not getting swept by Boston College.
Bubble but Out
Georgia Tech (44) , NC State (26) , Virginia Tech (55)
Georgia Tech has flown from off the NCAA radar to the bubble by winning 9 of their last 12 games. That included two ACC series road wins. The series win over Duke was big, but Georgia Tech probably needs a series win over Virginia to further enhance their chances. They do have 12 Q1 wins and are 30-21 (12-15)
NC State has a solid RPI, but at 31-18 (10-16) in the ACC and just getting swept by UNC has just about ended their NCAA chances. They need a sweep of Pittsburgh.
Virginia Tech just got swept by Clemson to fall to 29-19 (11-15) in the ACC. Now they have to go on the road to face that powerful Wake Forest team.
No Chance without ACC Title
Louisville (35), Pittsburgh (69), Florida State (63)
Florida State won’t even make the ACC Tournament. I never thought I’d see the day Louisville and Florida State would both not make the NCAA tournament. Louisville still has a mathematical shot of being in the ACCT and winning the tournament, but the Cardinals are just reeling, and this seems almost impossible.
