Better chance to win National Title Miami Men or Virginia Tech Women?

The Miami men’s basketball team has made the Final Four, and the Virginia Tech Women’s have made theirs.

Who has the better chance to come home with a National Title?

Neither heads to their Final Four as the favorite.

UCONN is the favorite to on the men’s side and South Carolina is the favorite on the women’s side.

Let’s start with Miami… Should they get by Connecticut, they would play the winner of the FAU/San Diego State team. Neither would be easy. You don’t get to the Final Four without being a very good team, but Miami shouldn’t be any worse than even odds against either. They may even be favored.

Connecticut is the problem.

They have size, can defend the 3, and they are on an absolute roll in the NCAAs. Miami brings plenty to the table with their elite guards, and Norchad Omier has been a true post force. The game with Connecticut will be a battle, but I like the Canes chances in the title game.

Virginia Tech is an underdog against LSU, and would certainly be an underdog against South Carolina. I think The Hokies would be an underdog to Iowa and arguably the best player in women’s college basketball Caitlin Clark as well.

The Hokies will have a tough enough time with LSU, but the title game will either be the best player in women’s college basketball or the best team. South Carolina enters on a more than 40-game winning streak and this year they have played only a handful of competitive games. To beat South Carolina would be a massive upset.

It’s not that the Hokies can’t win the national title, but between Miami and Virginia Tech – The Hokies definitely have the tougher path.
