ACC Basketball Power Rankings (March 12, 2023)

ACC Team of the Week : Duke for winning the ACC Tournament

NET Rankings are from – https://www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2023/net

15. Louisville (4-28, 2-18) NET Ranking 315

Last Week: 15

Congratulations Louisville you are the worst ACC team of the last quarter century. Kenny Payne can only get an F for this year’s coaching job.

14. Notre Dame (11-21, 3-17) NET Ranking 186

Last Week: 14

Notre Dame won one game after January. That’s a rough way for a really good coach like Mike Brey to go out.

13. Florida State (9-23, 7-13) NET Ranking 222

Last Week: 13

Florida State losing their last game in the final seconds against Georgia Tech in a game they led almost the way is an apt way to end the season. The heat is on Leonard Hamilton.

12. Syracuse (17-15, 10-10) NET Ranking 126

Last week: 12

Syracuse was a lifeless team most of the year, and now new HC Adrian Autry is left to start the rebuild. Thanks for the memories, Jim Boeheim.

11. Georgia Tech (13-18, 6-14) NET Ranking 178

Last Week: 11

Georgia Tech played decently in the last month of the season, but you lose 29 ACC games in two years and you shouldn’t be coaching another season. Georgia Tech thought the same, and the Josh Pastner era is over in Atlanta.

10. Virginia Tech (19-14, 8-12) NET Ranking 77

Last Week: 10

Virginia Tech was one of the ACC’s bigger disappointments.

9. Wake Forest (19-14, 10-10) NET Ranking 90

Last Week: 9

Steve Forbes hasn’t been able to get Wake Forest to the NCAA Tournament in any of his three years. Year 4 is probably a make-or-break year.

8. Boston College (16-17, 9-11) NET Ranking 168

Last Week: 8

Boston College is trending in the right direction, but this is a long-term rebuild for Earl Grant.

7. North Carolina (20-13, 12-8) NET Ranking 46

Last Week: 5

North Carolina missed chance after chance to play their way into the NCAA tournament. Selection Sunday didn’t end well for them.

6. Pittsburgh (22-11, 14-6) NET Ranking 67

Last week:  4

It’s splitting hairs on resumes between Pitt, NC State, and Clemson. If the committee had done its job properly all 3 would be in.

5. NC State (23-10, 12-8) NET Ranking 45

Last Week: 6

NC State and Kevin Keatts back in the NCAA tournament. That’s an 11 seed to watch for.

4. Clemson (23-10, 14-6) NET Ranking 60

Last Week: 7

Clemson would beat Louisville and Loyola Chicago 19 out of 20 times they play. The losses to them kept them out of the NCAA. I think that’s what left them since the committee chair wouldn’t answer a direct question about the Tigers.

3. Virginia  (25-6, 15-5) NET Ranking 26

Last Week: 2

Virginia losing Ben Vander Plas for the season limits their NCAA ceiling. Getting to the Sweet 16 would be an accomplishment.

2. Miami (25-7, 15-5) NET Ranking 35

Last Week: 1

Miami can go as far in the NCAA tournament as Norchad Omier’s ankle will take them. He needs to be healthy for Miami to make a deep NCAA run.

1. Duke (26-8, 14-6) NET Ranking 16

Last Week: 3

Duke is your ACC Tournament Champion and goes into the NCAA tournament one of the hottest teams in college basketball.
