UNC just found ways to lose to close out the season.

On November 12th, North Carolina stood 9-1 and in the top 15 with a QB in Drake Maye in line to get to NYC and contend for a Heisman.

There was even a remote shot at the playoffs.

Then it all just fell apart. North Carolina started to find ways to lose in every possible way.

They got blown out. They lost as a heavy favorite. They lost at home. They lost when their defense played well, and when it played badly. They lost on last-second drives, and in OT.

Wednesday night they had Oregon beat. They led the majority of the second half, but they couldn’t put the Ducks away as Oregon easily drove for the game-winning TD, when the Heels sat back and let Bo Nix and the Oregon offense march up the field without almost any resistance.

Mack Brown has brought level competitiveness back to North Carolina, but he’s been unable to cash in on several opportunities for a signature season.

With QBs like Sam Howell and Drake Maybe this shouldn’t keep happening to North Carolina.

Mack Brown needs to figure this out or his second tenure at UNC will be known as one where he just can’t get North Carolina over the hump.

It was a 9 win 2022 for UNC, but in the end, it will be remembered as a season of disappointment and missed oppurtunity for the Tar Heels.
