Reaction to signing day for the ACC

Wednesday’s National Signing Day just doesn’t have the excitement it used to have with the transfer portal now a part of the game.

That said it’s still a big day, but we’d also have to look at the transfer portal rankings.

Who made out in the ACC?

Recruiting Rankings are pulled from Rivals.com, 247Sports, and  Transfer rankings are from 247Sports  for a composite score.

Miami 5/4/8 = 5.67

If Miami struggles in the future it won’t be for lacking the ability to recruit. They got big time talent from HS and the portal.

Clemson 9/10/NA = 9.5

Ah Dabo still mostly ignoring the portal. I guess you can do that when the majority of your class is 4 star or better players.

Florida State 27/19/2 = 16

Mike Norvell is really setting the Noles up for the future, and the more FSU wins the more the HS recruiting rankings will improve.

Virginia Tech 34/35/19 = 29.33

Despite a rough year, Brent Pry’s recruiting quietly was pretty good.

North Carolina 25/26/40 = 30.33

Mack Brown did alright this year, but compared to the last few years it wasn’t his best class.

Louisville 48/30/40 = 39.33

Louisville’s class was small in numbers, but strong in quality with seven 4-star players out of HS. Jeff Brohm has something to work with.

NC State 40/43/NA = 41.5

Dave Doeren has never been known for elite recruiting, but he wins consistently anyways.

Wake Forest 41/47/NA = 44

Wake Forest recruits about where we expect them to be. Actually being in the 40s isn’t bad for them.

Georgia Tech 53/56/26 = 45

Brent Key could only do much with the HS recruiting class, but farming Texas A&M for transfers wasn’t a bad strategy.

Virginia 56/62/18 = 45.33

I saw some disappointment in Virginia’s class, but Tony Elliot did some good things in the portal.

Duke 49/49/48 = 48.67

Mike Elko signed one of the ACC’s largest classes number wise coming off a big regular season. Elko has something to sell.

Pittsburgh 50/48/48 = 48.67

I’m a little surprised Pat Narduzzi’s recent success isn’t translating to better-recruiting success.

Boston College 64/54/NA = 59

BC Head Coach Jeff Hafley going off on recruiting was classic.

Syracuse 84/70/NA = 77

We call Syracuse’s class the 2 star Army.
