Is Miami ready to make itself a contender in the ACC?
Miami is a definite NCAA team at 11-1. Their guard play is excellent, but this week we find out if they can be a true contender in the ACC. They get a Virginia team with an impressive resume, but that has regressed a little bit offensively at Miami. Is Reece Beekman even 100% for the Hoos? This is a big opportunity for the Canes to stamp themselves as a top-15 team, and one that could win the ACC regular season.
Is Virginia Tech ready to handle the role of the favored team?
This one has weighed on podcast co-host @ASD_HokieSmash for days. He wrote an article detailing this very question as Virginia Tech plays at Boston College this week. We know Virginia Tech can play with and beat quality teams, but they need to prove they can beat bad teams on the road. Boston College qualifies as that. Should the Hokies lose this game it would bring into question everything we think about the Hokies.
Who is a ready to step forward in the ACC’s second tier?
If UNC, Duke, Virginia Tech, Virginia, and Miami are set in the ACC as your NCAA teams barring total collapses, then who will step forward in the ACC’s second tier? This would be Clemson, NC State, Wake Forest, Syracuse, and Pittsburgh. It could be none of them or three or four of them could make runs. Syracuse is on a five-game winning streak. Pittsburgh can shoot at times. NC State and Clemson have good pieces in spots. Wake Forest can look like a top 20 for parts of games. Syracuse hosts Pittsburgh this week. Wake Forest gets Duke at home. Clemson goes to Georgia Tech, and NC State has Louisville at home. We’ll get some clarity this week.
