ACC Basketball Power Rankings (December 13, 2022)

ACC Team of the Week : Virginia Tech – for 2-0 record beating Dayton and Oklahoma State.

NET Rankings are from – https://www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2022/net

15. Louisville (0-9) NET Ranking 360

Last Week: 15

If Louisville doesn’t beat Florida A&M, just cancel the season.

14. Florida State (2-9, 1-1) NET Ranking 280

Last Week: 14

The Noles are not going to the NCAA Tournament, but they are going to start winning a few games. St. Johns is a chance for them to pull an upset.

13. Boston College (6-6, 0-1) NET Ranking 245

Last Week: 13

Why do I think Boston College is going to be Florida State’s spot before long. This team is terrible, not Louisville terrible but terrible.

12. Georgia Tech (6-4, 0-1) NET Ranking 144

Last Week : 12

In most years this Georgia Tech team would be the ACC’s worst squad, but it isn’t a normal year. Josh Pastner can be thankful for that.

11. Notre Dame (7-3, 0-1) NET Ranking 161

Last Week: 10

Notre Dame has a decent record, but the blowout at home to Marquette proves they are long way from being a decent team. They don’t play any defense.

10. Syracuse (7-4, 1-0) NET Ranking 165

Last week: 11

Watch this Syracuse team. There’s a path where they could go on a nice winning streak that’s already at 4.

9. Pitt (7-4, 1-0) NET Ranking 83

Last week:  9

If Pitt could have the 1 point Vanderbilt loss back… Still this team is improved from last year.

8. Wake Forest (7-3, 0-1) NET Ranking 87

Last Week: 8

Wake Forest is developing a disturbing tendency to get up big on quality teams only to fade late. The collapse against LSU will leave a mark. Again if they are on the bubble their resume will again be questioned. Rutgers is another chance this week. There is that win at Wisconsin, but they need more.

7. Clemson (8-3, 1-0) NET Ranking 122

Last Week: 7

Clemson gave back all their gains of the last 2 weeks with a miserable effort against Loyola Chicago. That’s why Brad Brownell can’t get off the hotest.

6. NC State (9-3, 0-2) NET Ranking 60

Last Week: 5

Speaking of hotseat, Kevin Keatts starting 0-2 in the ACC isn’t helping his case either. They really need a 2-0 week over Furman and Vanderbilt. They got the first one.

NCAA TOURNAMENT CUT LINE

————————————————————————————————

5. North Carolina (7-4, 1-1) NET Ranking 37

Last Week: 6

If North Carolina beats Ohio State this week, we’ll start paying attention to them again.

4. Virginia Tech (10-1, 1-0) NET Ranking 28

Last Week: 4

Virginia Tech took down a physical Oklahoma State team this past week. Grambling State should leave them 11-1 this week.

3. Miami (10-1, 2-0) NET Ranking 57

Last Week: 3

Miami can score in bunches. If they can get their defense in order watch out. St. Francis is all that separates them from an 11-1 start.

2. Duke (10-2, 1-0) NET Ranking 12

Last Week: 2

Duke faces Wake Forest in a week. That won’t be easy.

1. Virginia  (8-0, 1-0) NET Ranking 8

Last Week: 1

Virginia is going to lose at some point, and it might be this week with Houston and at Miami. A split would be an acceptable result.
