Just a short post for tonight.
Per Ken Sugiura of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the terms of new football coach Brent Key’s deal have been released.
These terms are a lot more favorable for Georgia Tech than what was signed for Geoff Collins. The increase in salary for assistants also makes is a smart move as well.
In the event things get dicey for basketball coach Josh Pastner in the next two years, the football deal also doesn’t break the bank.
That has to be considered as it’s very likely that Pastner will finish his 7th year at Georgia Tech with zero NCAA Tournament wins and just one appearance in the Big Dance.
Brent Key’s contract terms: five years, $15 million, starting at $2.8 million. Buyout reduces over time, down to 50% of remaining contract value in year 4. Perhaps most notably, $7.5M salary pool for assistants/staff, a 30% increase from this past season.
