ACC Power Rankings after Week 9

ACC Team of the Week : Louisville – for a 48-21 win over Wake Forest

14. Boston College (2-6)

Last Week: 13

I had to drop Boston College after losing to UCONN of all people. I know the Huskies are improved, but still. Jeff Hafley was supposed have BC better than this in his third season.

13. Virginia Tech (2-6)

Last Week: 14

How bad was BC’s loss to UCONN? So bad I moved Virginia Tech up after losing at NC State. The Hokies have a chance at picking up a W against a reeling Georgia Tech team.

12. Virginia  (3-5)

Last Week: 11

Virginia looked terrible against a bad Miami team, and now get North Carolina’s red hot offense.

11. Georgia Tech (3-5)

Last Week : 10

That 2 game winning streak seems a lifetime ago. Brent Key’s chances of becoming the full-time head coach keep shrinking.

10. Miami (4-4)

Last Week: 12

Miami can jumpstart a disappointing season with a victory over Florida State this weekend.

9. Pitt (4-4)

Last week:  9

For 2 1/2 quarters Pittsburgh looked like the ACC defending champions against UNC. Then reality set it in. Syracuse could be a chance to start salvaging the season. The 9th best team in the ACC was called a key win Tennessee – just saying.

8. Duke (5-3)

Last Week: 8

Duke gets the ACC’s worst team on the road at Boston College. Duke is going bowling with a win.

7. Louisville (5-3)

Last Week: 8

Louisville blasted a good Wake Forest team this weekend. No ACC team has improved more in the last month. A win over James Madison and they are bowl eligible.

6. Syracuse (6-2)

Last week: 3

I still like Syracuse, but they looked like they were out of gas against Notre Dame. How will they respond at Pitt?

5. Florida State (5-3)

Last Week: 6

Florida State cruised over Georgia Tech. You never know about rivalry games, but if they play like they are capable of they are beating Miami. The win over LSU is one of the best OOC wins of the year.

4. Wake Forest (6-2)

Last Week: 2

I don’t know what that was in a 8 turnover game against Louisville. Everything I thought about Wake Forest is out the window now, and now they have to play a tough road game at NC State.

3. NC State (6-2)

Last Week: 5

Did MJ Morris save NC State’s season? We’ll find out against Wake Forest this weekend, but he sure was impressive against in the comeback against Virginia Tech.

2. North Carolina (7-1)

Last Week: 4

North Carolina in the 2nd half, really looked like a good football team. The offense is great, but the defense is starting to make plays. They should get to 8-1 after playing Virginia.

1. Clemson (8-0)

Last Week: 1

Clemson has a chance to impress pollsters with dangerous, but inconsistent Notre Dame this week. This is where Clemson truly needs to start putting it all together.
