Can North Carolina make a splash and defeat Notre Dame at home?
It seems so much has discussed about North Carolina’s defense, that some have forgotten that UNC is actually 3-0. Drake Maye has been a revelation at QB so far. Notre Dame went from top 10 ranking to unranked after losing to Ohio State and Marshall and barely beating California to sit 1-2. We know there is talent on the Notre Dame team, but it has offensive problems which may be a perfect fit for UNC’s struggling defense. If North Carolina can take advantage of a down Notre Dame, at 4-0 you have to rank them. They did win at Appalachian State after all.
Does Wake Forest take charge of the Atlantic Division this weekend?
Wake Forest gets their chance to take control of the Atlantic division when they host top 10 Clemson. Wake Forest hasn’t beaten Clemson since 2008, but this will be one of the best opportunities since. They are at home, Sam Hartman is back, and Clemson still doesn’t quite look right on either side of the ball. Maybe another question is if Saturday becomes Clemson’s breakout game?
Will Virginia Tech turn the corner against West Virginia?
Virginia Tech opened the season with an ugly loss to Old Dominion, but they have won their last two games over Boston College and Wofford in solid if unspectacular fashion. West Virginia provides an opportunity to indeed turn the corner for the Hokies. Virginia Tech is not a great offensive team, but they are one of the ACC’s better defensive teams. West Virginia comes in 1-2, but is just a handful of plays from being 3-0, and is a good offensive team. If the Hokies can win this game, it would put that Old Dominion loss in the rearview mirror.
