Who should replace Geoff Collins at Georgia Tech?

With the end of the Geoff Collins at Georgia Tech era all but cemented after a 42-0 home shellacking by Ole Miss, the Jackets just need to go ahead and start looking at coaching candidates. Here are some coaches they should start preparing to gauge once Collins is inevitably let go. For Jacket fans hopefully, this is sooner rather than later.

Shawn Clark – The Appalachian State head coach is a hot name. The Mountaineers have won 19 games the last two years, and this season has one of the biggest upsets in College Station winning at Texas A&M. Scott Satterfield came from App State highly regarded and is on the hot seat himself at Louisville, so that could give some pause, but I’d give Clark a look.

Todd Monken – Monken comes with a wealth of experience from the NFL to College. He’s the OC at Georgia, that helped turned walkon QB Stetson Bennett into a really good collegiate player. He took over Southern Miss and in his first year went 1-11, and 2 years later won 9 games. So he knows how to turn around programs that are a mess. Georgia Tech certainly qualifies for that.

Jamey Chadwell – Chadwell is going to end up with a big-time coaching gig. It’s just a matter of when. He’s 3-0 this year and won 22 games the last two years at Coastal Carolina. They were one of college football’s best stories in 2020.

Deion Sanders – Did anybody pay attention to Jackson State before Sanders got there? The guy can coach, and he’s getting higher profile players to Jackson State than Collins is getting to Georgia Tech. If Sanders is looking to move up a level, he could create some national interest in Georgia Tech.

A Can of Tuna – A can of tuna can do what Geoff Collins has done at Georgia Tech without a salary. Use the extra money on assistants and more staff. Hey, the can of tuna can’t be worse than Collins.
