Florida State probably should not have come out of Louisville with a win. QB Jordan Travis got, DL Jared Verse got hurt, and they trailed at the half 21-14. Then they fell behind in the 2nd half 21-28 and 28-31. On the road, injuries mounting and trailing multiple times in the 2nd half.
In the previous few years, Florida State would have lost this game. In the last few years they would not have been able to control LSU at the line of scrimmage. This is a 1-2 team, probably anytime since 2017.
In 2022 Florida State is 3-0.
This feels like something is building at Florida State. They are learning how to win games again. They are showing resiliency, guts, and toughness. Most importantly for the first time in years, they are playing hard for 60 minutes every time out.
Florida State is far from a finished product. They aren’t running the table, and much tougher games await the Noles. They have yet to face Wake Forest, NC State, Clemson, Miami, and Florida. Upstart Syracuse is on the road too. Now QB Jordan Travis may be out for extended weeks.
That said an offensive line that’s playing well, and the ACC’s most talented set of backs gives Florida State a chance to win 8 or 9 games in the regular season, which is definitely a step in the right direction for the program.
Mike Norvell has got the Noles to look like a cohesive football team even when facing adversity.
There can be no mistaking it now. Something is brewing in Tallahassee for the first time in quite a while.
A quick note on Louisville. It was a good win last week at UCF, but their season is in big trouble. Look at their schedule and tell me if you see a path to 6 wins.
