You never want to close the door on a season after one game, but Boston College’s late game collapse against Rutgers has set the stage for a season on the brink after one game.
In a critical 3rd year for Jeff Hafley to show progress, BC just made mistake after mistake after mistake. When they weren’t turning the ball over, they were missing FGs, dropping passes, or missing tackles (especially late).
Normally reliable Phil Jurkovec looked tentative and sloppy behind a new offensive line.
If BC can’t win at Virginia Tech next, they may be very well looking at having 1 win heading to UConn on October 29.
A Rutgers opener should have created hope for the season, instead, there is a whole lot of concern at Chestnut Hill.
How did BC Twitter see the game?

All summer long I said BC’s offensive line didn’t need to be good they needed to be serviceable. We didn’t get anything close to that today. Brutal game by the line, and now there are MAJOR concerns for the rest of the season

I’ve got that superfan sadness

Last year was suppose to be BC’s best chance. Returning OL, QB, WR’s and a weak ACC. Jurkovec’s injury derailed that. Its nearly impossible to win with ZERO OL returning starters who are average at best. This could be a long and brutal season.

Rushing defense has been a problem for Hafley’s entire tenure, and he’s done just about nothing to fix it. I’m sick of him
