ESPN showcases ACC during Labor Day Weekend.

We finally had some actual football this past weekend. Now the next weekend is when the season really gets going.

ACC fans don’t usually think ESPN has been a friend to the conference either through promotion, prime-time slots, or the all-important media revenue rights. Earlier this week ESPN’s #2 Executive Burk Magnus did say the network did have every incentive to help the ACC financials.   We will keep an eye on that.

This Labor Day weekend though, ESPN has several ACC teams front and center.

Thursday night is the return of the Backyard Brawl with Pittsburgh and West Virginia. Gameday will be there, and on a night with several college football games. It’s is the game of the night at 7 PM on ESPN.

Saturday NC State plays East Carolina at noon on ESPN. That’s a national TV slot for the top 15 ranked NC State Wolfpack.

Sunday Florida State plays LSU at 7:30 PM on ABC. Yep that’s going to pull monster ratings.

Monday Clemson faces Georgia Tech in an exclusive window at 8 PM on ESPN.

That’s 5 ACC teams that are playing on national TV windows on ESPN or ABC.

Now with the ACC Network at full distribution with COMCAST added last year any games on the ACC Network should now be considered national TV games.
