The SEC’s best don’t often lose, but when they do it is to teams from the ACC.

Way back in 2013, we wrote an article that is true now as it is now. Other conferences need to stop complaining about SEC football dominance and do something about it.  The point remains true in any sport, if you are tired of hearing about the SEC, then you have to beat them on the field.

Here is the problem, it rarely happens, and when it does it is usually a team from the ACC.

Where are you Pac 12, Big 12, and the money-rich, but championship-deficient Big 10?

Let’s look back at that 2013 season. SEC Football teams had won 7 straight National Title, then Florida State’s legendary 2013 team beat the best team the SEC had to offer an undefeated Auburn team.

In 2016 Clemson knocked off #1 ranked and undefeated Alabama, and in 2018 Clemson again humiliated another  #1 ranked Alabama team many called the best ever.

During that time, it was mostly crickets from the Big 12, Pac 12, and Big 10. The one outlier 2014 Ohio State did beat #1 ranked Alabama in the playoff, though that Tide team did not come in undefeated like the ACC victories.

Should we give credit to 2014 Oklahoma for beating an Alabama team 45-31 that spent several weeks ranked #1? Only if you acknowledge 2014 Georgia Tech beating a Mississippi State team 49-34 that was ranked #1 for a month that same year.

The last two years of College Baseball had consensus #1 teams Arkansas and Tennessee. Arkansas drew whispers of the best team ever,  but so did Tennessee.  Both went out before the CWS, to you guessed teams from the ACC – NC State and Notre Dame.

That’s at least 3 greatest teams in history that got stopped by someone from the ACC.

What about men’s basketball? Well in 2015 Kentucky had been anointed the greatest team ever only to see their run stopped by Wisconsin of the Big 10 in the Final 4. We’ll give a Big 10 team credit for that one.

That season the ACC’s Duke Blue Devils went on to win the national title.

Well this year for the first time in their history, Auburn basketball was ranked #1 and spent 6 weeks at #1. They got blown out by Miami Hurricanes in the NCAA Tournament.

Even if we’re talking National Titles in the Big 4 Sports (Football, Men’s & Women’s Basketball, and Baseball) since 2013…

The SEC has 11 National Titles, and the ACC has 8. The Big 12, Pac 12, and Big 10 have a combined 7.

I think you get the idea…

The ACC teams seem to be doing most of the heavy lifting where they can against the SEC, a little help here?
