Wait… what? NC State left out of the NCAA baseball field.

What were the sports betting odds prior to today’s stunning announcement that NC State would not be part of the NCAA Baseball field?

In my mind the chances were so remote they would be left out of the field, that I didn’t even consider the possibility that it could happen.

By my count, the Wolfpack has 11 wins over teams that made the NCAA Tournament. ELEVEN!

How does this even happen?

The theories ranged from anti-ACC bias to not wanting to outshine the SEC, to the NCAAs hidden agenda against NC State.

At this point, they are all valid, because it doesn’t make sense.

This is from a couple of college baseball’s leading media members.

After the debacle in Omaha, which saw the NCAA deny NC State a shot at a national title,  the incompetent organization that is the NCAA further twisted the knife in the back of NC State baseball by not even giving the Wolfpack a chance to compete in this year’s tournament.

How the ACC has no representation in the committee simply blows my mind, and I believe that to be the root cause of this mess.

ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips has plenty on his plate, but this is where he needs to make a statement and represent the conference he presides over.

Do you think SEC Commissioner Greg Sanky would have let it pass if Ole Miss had been left out even though NC State had better metrics in nearly every relevant category?

NC State fans and administrators can gripe. ACC Bloggers and ACC Fans not from Chapel Hill will join in the fray, but only Jim Phillips can defend the ACC at the national level.

This week NC State, next week a top 5 ACC team left out of the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament, or a men’s basketball team that went 15-5 in the ACC in the play in-game… Oh, wait that already happened.

Do something, Jim Phillips.
