As we move towards the end of the College Baseball, who is going to be a regional host as we head into the ACC Tournament.
Let’s look at the contenders.
RPIs are taken from https://www.warrennolan.com/baseball/2022/rpi-live
#4 Virginia Tech 40-11 (19-9)
Virginia Tech could go winless in the ACCT and they will still be the host. They probably just need 1 win to be a top 8 national seed.
Hosting Odds – 100%
#9 Louisville 38-16-1 (18-11-1)
Taking the series from Virginia virtually series Louisville will host a regional. They are certainly in a position to be a top 8 seed.
Hosting Odds – 95%
#7 Miami 39-16 (20-10)
Miami took the series from Notre Dame, and that should lock up a regional host.
Hosting Odds – 95%
#11 Wake Forest 39-16-1 (15-14-1)
The sweep of NC State changes everything for Wake Forest. Their RPI give them a shot at hosting.
Hosting Odds – 50%
#15 North Carolina 34-19 (15-15)
North Carolina sweeps Florida State and now they could host with a strong ACCT. Now Wake Forest and North Carolina aren’t hosting. Only one may make it depending on ACCT performance.
Hosting Odds – 50%
#16 Virginia 38-15 (17-13)
Virginia lost the series to Louisville, but don’t count them out. There’s a ton of ACC competition though.
Hosting Odds – 50%
#17 Notre Dame 33-13 (16-11)
Notre Dame could still host, but losing the series to Miami put a series dent into that. They probably need to reach the ACCT Semis.
Hosting Odds – 50%
#21 Georgia Tech 33-21 (15-15)
Suddenly Georgia Tech has won 6 games in a row. It’s a long shot, but they have a shot at hosting.
Hosting Odds – 25%
#30 Florida State 32-22 (15-15)
Getting swept by UNC about ends the Noles hosting chances. At the very least they need to reach the ACCT Championship game.
Hosting Odds – 10%
#29 Clemson 35-21 (13-16)
Sweeping Boston College helps Clemson’s NCAA chances but doesn’t do much for hosting.
Hosting Odds – 1%
#42 NC State 33-20 (14-15)
Hosting? Getting swept by Wake Forest throws NC State on the bubble.
Hosting Odds – 1%
