Which ACC Baseball teams have best chance at hosting? (5-18 Update)

As we move towards the end of the College Baseball, who is going to be a regional host?

Let’s look at the contenders.

RPIs are taken from https://www.warrennolan.com/baseball/2022/rpi-live

#5 Virginia Tech 37-11 (16-9)

Barring getting swept by Duke, and going winless in the ACC Tournament Virginia Tech will host. Now the question is how high can they go.

Hosting Odds – 95%

#10 Louisville 36-15-1 (16-10-1)

Virginia is a tough way to end the season, but if they win the series Louisville all but guarantees they will host.

Hosting Odds – 70%

#11 Miami 37-15 (18-9)

Miami has lost its last two ACC series. If they lose third to Notre Dame, their hosting odds get dicey.

Hosting Odds – 75%

#15 Notre Dame 32-11 (15-9)

The winner of the Miami/Notre Dame series is a virtual lock to host. The loser isn’t out.

Hosting Odds – 85%

#16 Virginia 37-13 (16-11)

This Virginia/Louisville has a similar feel to Miami/Notre Dame.

Hosting Odds – 60%

#21 Florida State 32-19 (15-12)

FSU could have used a win over Florida this week. It’s an absolute must they take the series at UNC. Frankly, it will be tough, there are just a bunch of ACC teams ahead of them.

Hosting Odds – 40%

#20 Wake Forest 36-16-1 (12-14-1)

If Wake Forest doesn’t sweep NC State, their chances at hosting are dead without an ACC Title.

Hosting Odds – 5%

#25 Georgia Tech 30-21 (12-15)

If Georgia Tech sweeps Pittsburgh, they can re-enter the discussion, but they are likely too far back without an ACC Title.

Hosting Odds – 5%

#32 NC State 33-17 (14-12)

NC State probably needs an ACC Title even if they sweep Wake Forest.

Hosting Odds – 5%
