Which ACC Baseball teams have best chance at hosting? (Update)

As we move towards the end of the College Baseball, who is going to be a regional host?

Let’s look at the contenders.

RPIs are taken from https://www.warrennolan.com/baseball/2022/rpi-live

#6 Miami 36-12 (17-7)

Miami has series with Florida State and Notre Dame left plus a with FGCU. Win both and they will be a top 8. Play .500 ball the rest of the way, they will be a host.

Hosting Odds – 90%

#7 Virginia Tech 34-10 (14-8)

Virginia Tech is in great shape to a host a regional barring losing 4 or more of their last 7. They have a solid chance to be a national seed.

Hosting Odds – 90%

#11 Notre Dame 29-10 (13-8)

The winner of the Miami/Notre Dame series could be for a national seed.

Hosting Odds – 80%

#12 Louisville 34-13-1 (15-8-1)

Louisville plays Virginia Tech and Virginia. That’s a tough finish. They could finish anywhere from a top 8 national seed to low end 2 seed in a regional.

Hosting Odds – 50%

#15 Virginia 35-12 (14-10)

The series with Louisville looms large, but don’t overlook erratic Clemson.

Hosting Odds – 60%

#18 Florida State 30-17 (13-11)

FSU gets a Miami series at home to make their case. They are probably too far to get to a national seed.

Hosting Odds – 40%

#22 Wake Forest 34-14-1 (11-12-1)

Wake Forest plays their last 7 games on the road. Six of those games are against UNC and NC State.

Hosting Odds – 15%

#27 Georgia Tech 28-21 (12-15)

The country’s most Jekyll and Hyde team, needs to win 4 of their final 5 to even get a look. Getting swept by Clemson probably doomed Georgia Tech even with 16 Q1 wins.

Hosting Odds – 10%

#32 NC State 30-16 (12-11)

Duke and Wake Forest series with UNCG are left for NC State. NC State doesn’t really have a great series win either.

Hosting Odds – 15%
