Final ACC Basketball Power Rankings April 7, 2022

15. NC State (11-21, 4-16)

Last Week: 15

Anybody want to play for Kevin Keatts next year, because it doesn’t seem like it.

14. Georgia Tech (12-20, 5-15)

Last Week : 14

If Georgia Tech doesn’t hit a couple home runs in the transfer portal, next year will go much like this year.

13. Pittsburgh (11-21, 6-14)

Last Week: 13

There’s not much optimism at Pitt under Jeff Capel.

12. Louisville (13-19, 6-14)

Last Week: 12

There’s is a lot of optimism at Louisville with the hire of Kenny Payne.

11. Boston College (13-20, 6-14)

Last week: 11

Earl Grant had an encouraging first year at BC.

10. Syracuse (16-17 9-11)

Last Week: 10

I think Syracuse will be much better next year.

9. Clemson (17-16, 8-12)

Last Week: 9

Losing your starting backcourt to the transfer portal is not the way to start the off-season.

8. Florida State (17-14, 10-10)

Last Week: 8

Miami made the Elite 8 this year after an injury riddled 2020. Florida State could very well have a similar resurgence next year.

7. Virginia (21-14, 12-8)

Last Week: 7

Virginia lost a number of games in the final seconds. They were less than 60 seconds from winning 24-25 games. They find a shooter they’ll be a top 20 team. Tony Bennett will figure it out.

6. Wake Forest (25-10, 13-7)

Last week: 6

A 25 win season is an excellent first year for coach Steve Forbes. The NIT ended a little sooner than Wake Forest wanted, but they are in good shape for the future.

5. Notre Dame (23-11, 15-5)

Last Week: 4

Notre Dame had a fine NCAA tournament beating Rutgers and Alabama before bowing out in a close game to Texas Tech. Last 4 in? Yea I don’t think so.

4. Virginia Tech (23-13, 11-9)

Last Week: 2

Virginia Tech got bounced in their opening NCAA game, but that’s still your ACC Champion.

3. Miami (26-11, 14-6)

Last week: 5

Miami got all the way to Elite 8 by beating USC, trouncing Auburn, and defeating Iowa State. They were a very good team by the end of the year.

2. Duke  (32-7, 16-4)

Last Week: 1

In all fairness to Duke, going to the Final 4, winning 32 games, and finishing the year ranked #3 is a pretty darn good end to Coach K’s career.

1. North Carolina (29-10, 15-5)

Last Week: 3

UNC’s remarkable run finished just short of a national title. They ended the year ranked #2. Remember when they were on the bubble?
