A Virginia Tech Men’s Basketball Victory vs. Louisville is a Must This Year

Good afternoon, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.

Seems like this is an annual post for me 😉  But it’s no different this year.  Virginia Tech must defeat Louisville this year in men’s basketball.

Why am I so concerned, uptight, upset, etc. about Virginia Tech’s matchup vs. Louisville?  It’s been decidedly one-sided.

To review, Virginia Tech has lost the last 17 in a row vs. Louisville.  The Hokies last win in the series vs. Louisville was on February 13, 1991, in the Metro Conference days.  The Hokies best winning streak was 3 vs. Louisville was also in the Metro Conference days (that’s when the Metro was king with teams like Memphis State, Louisville, Florida State, and Virginia Tech) from February 1984 to January 1985.

To contrast, Virginia Tech has actually had much better success vs. Duke.  The Hokies are 4-6 in their last ten games. vs. Duke.  That’s actually pretty decent, right?

Louisville fired Chris Mack this year.  Louisville has an acting head coach.  Louisville is playing Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.  Virginia Tech had better take the opportunity to win.  Opportunities, as you can see above, don’t happen often in this series.

Keep your eye on this matchup.  The game is on March 1, 2022.
