Louisville may have missed with their two “on paper” great coaching hires.

Louisville is in uncharted territory. I’m drawing a blank of the last time an ACC school looked to have made 2 universally praised hires with their men’s basketball and football team, and saw them so questioned several years later. In 2018 the men’s basketball team hired Xavier’s Chris Mack, and the football program hired Scott …

NCAA Bracket Projections (Men’s and Women’s) for January 16, 2022

Do you realize selection Sunday is barely two months away? ACC teams had it rough in the non-conference portion of the season, and how has it affected the early projections? It’s never too early look, but hard to see the ACC getting more than 6 bids, and more likely 4 or 5. Things look much …

Duke’s coaching-staff-in-waiting picks up early first win

Duke’s coaches enjoyed more than one celebration following Wednesday’s bounce-back win over Wake Forest in Winston-Salem. First, there was the post-game celebration. The Blue Devils won 76-64. That was routine for a blue-blood program that this season is ranked No. 8 in the nation with a 13-2 record overall and 3-1 in the ACC. The …

ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips comments on playoff expansion per @ADavidHaleJoint

So ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips took a firm stance on playoff expansion, and I’m all for it. It’s inevitable that the playoff expansion is coming, but the ACC has little leverage with ESPN, Notre Dame, and really the other power 5 conferences. This is one place where the ACC does have leverage. Phillips says this …

Articles Around the #ACC Blogosphere – January 13, 2022

Who knew that an Alabama Georgia national championship rematch from a few weeks prior would result in poor ratings? ACCPrescription tell us about it.  ShakintheSouthland reviews the running back position from this past season at Clemson.  DukeBasktballReport says Duke is not a great rebounding team, and doesn’t need to be.  Could cold days could …

Way Too Early 2022 College Football Top 25 rankings (Links)

It’s January so we have to check on the Way Too Early top 25 rankings. I’ve never had a problem with these coming out early. They are fun to read through, and they create some off-season debate. Georgia Tech currently has the worst football and men’s basketball combo in the ACC.

A few days ago we wrote how Wake Forest could have the ACC COY in football and men’s basketball. Well, there is always the other end of the spectrum. In 2021-2022 that end of the spectrum resides in Atlanta, Georgia. The failures of Geoff Collin’s 3-year tenure are well documented at Georgia Tech. At the …
